The last hoorah of summer! All guests will enjoy the summer like weather this Labour Day Weekend;-) Where has the summer gone but now fall is here so think of fall adventures down the line. The time has flown by where has the last 2 months gone? The resort is now open and guests are enjoying the warm weather and some have even ventured into Lake Huron for a swim. The islands survived the winter but the water levels are way up this year. Think you will be able to fish from the deck at Cottage 8
Holly and Sean Woodstra have made the move from Burlington, Ontario to Bruce Mines to manage the resort. They are an excellent addition to the staff. They have a passion for the islands and for fishing.

Spring is in the air. Lake Huron waves can be seen lapping under the bridge and the point of McKay Island. The squirrels and chipmunks are out and about. The Canadian Geese can be seen standing on the ice checking out their territory. Before long we will being to open up the cottages for the 2016 season. The maple syrup is running so come on down the line to St Joseph Island for pancakes and syrup and stop in Bruce Mines and check out the Antique Store.
Stay in the McKay Island Lighthouse for the March Break. The snowmobile trails in District 13 are now all green and ready for some great sledding. Craig Nicholson the Inrepid Snowmobilier and his crew will be arriving in our area tomorrw to enjoy our fine trails.
The ice bridge may not be ready but the trails in Bruce Mines are ready! Come to Bruce Mines and enjoy the scenery and the trails. Winter has finally arrived.
Winter has at last arrived and the islands are a winter wonderland. The lake now has a thin layer of ice which is lightly covered with snow. It is great fun to observe the animal tracks in the snow. The McKay Island lighthouse is going to be open for weekends this winter. Consider a winter getaway.
The warm weather this Labour Day weekend was enjoyed by the guests as they went for a swim or kayaking. The days are getting shorter and the smell of autumn is in the air. Installed the Migratory Bird Song Meter last night so for sure that is a sign that fall coming soon. It has been a great summer but we have had a lack of rain so we are under a no fire ban presently.
