Logging has been going on on the islands. The wood will be used for a deck over the Lighthouse Keepers boathouse foundation. The logging has produced a new bluff trail on McKay Island which is in the middle of the island and leads to the waters edge. |

Planning to snow mobile in the Bruce Mines area please check the trail conditions. Presently the trails are closed, as is the ice bridge to Thessalon and Drummond. One inch of snow fell yesterday but we need more snow. |

The Bruce Mines SnoGlyders Snow Mobile Club have been working hard on the area trails plus new signage. Lake Huron is now a frozen sheet of ice waiting to be used as a highway by snowmobiles heading to Top D 136 trail, St Joseph Island, Thessalon and Drummond Island. All snowmobile trails meet at the McKay Island Lighthouse. Bruce Mines is a great stop for gas, food or accommodations. Enjoy the snow and all the winter fun snow activities like tobogganing, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. |

Happy New Year!
Lake Huron is now a sea of white to the horizon. A light snow is falling making it a perfect eve for a winter walk. The McKay Island Tower will not be guiding any freighters into port for 3 1/2 months. |
