The Lighthouse Keeper's boathouse foundation is now being transformed into a 2 tier deck overlooking Lake Huron. The plan is to finish it this weekend. The view is amazing and the birch trees provide shade so it will be a favourite spot to observe the freighters.

The First Freighter of the season rumbled into Trap Rock last night Monday, April 5 at 11:30 pm. Last year the first freighter was April 17th and it was surrounded by ice as a trail had been cut through the ice by the coast guard. |

Today at 1:30 pm it is officially spring and with that the first sea gull was seen flying over the lighthouse. Two Canadian geese are floating in the bay under the bridge wondering when is the ice going diappear. The ice today is very blue and shimmering in the sun. it has receded from the shoreline of the islands witha foot of water between the shoreline and the ice. I predict this year will be a record year for the ice going out of the bay as usually the ice breakers has to break a trail for the first freighter to arrive at the end of April. |

Stay posted for the Spring Updates at Bruce Bay Cottages. The ice now has a hue of blue and is receding from the shoreline with numerous large puddles of water on top. The crews and the ravens are busy swooping looking for winter treasues. The squirrels and chipmunks are seen scampering around and enjoying the warm sunshine. The snow has now disappeared and the grass is starting to turn green. The trees are budding, the maple syrup is running...what a special treat. Waiting for the first sea gull to arrive...stay tuned |
