The islands are located in historic Bruce Mines, Northern Ontario, Algoma Country. Only 45 minutes east of Sault Ste. Marie and the International Bridge. Be a lighthouse keeper in the 1907 McKay Island Lighthouse located on the easterly point of 15 acre McKay Island. Enjoy the panoramic view of the North Channel of Lake Huron and watch the sun rise. Sleep to the lull of Lake Huron’s waves by night and watch the freighters by day. The only housekeeping lighthouse in Ontario, accessible by car.

Experience camping in one of the 8 cozy waterfront cottages with their open rafters and wood heat. Located on the 22 acre French Island accessible by car. The cottages are on Bruce Bay and face the Town of Bruce Mines and you can see its lights twinkling in the distance at night.

The cottages and lighthouse are fully equipped housekeeping units, immaculately clean and waiting for you to arrive with your food and clothes. Each cottage has a briquette barbecue, picnic table, bonfire pit, and Muskoka chairs for your outdoor enjoyment. The shallow entry beach at the cottages is great for young children or swim at Fox Den Beach. The walking trails, canoes, kayaks, bikes, docks are complimentary. Fee for wood. All of our accommodations are pet friendly and the cottages are non smoking, Wifi hot spots available on the islands. Cottage season is the May long weekend til Thanksgiving. McKay Island Lighthouse

Be a Keeper of the Light at the 1907 McKay Island Lighthouse located on the easterly point of 15 acre McKay Island. Enjoy the panoramic view of the North Channel of Lake Huron and watch the sun rise. Sleep to the lull of Lake Huron’s waves by night and watch the freighters by day.   Explore both islands by foot or bicycle , enjoy the scenery, listen to the songbirds and observe the abundant wildlife. Dip a paddle into Lake Huron and discover the shore line or cast a line and fish for the elusive pike or just relax.
